Airplane Wine

airplane wine
after transporting wine on an airplane, should the wine sit before drinking? if so, for how long?

If the wine has been jostled about during transport, it will likely be “bottle-shocked” and the wine will taste slightly off and out of balance. You should let the wine rest for at least a few weeks before consuming.

This applies not just to airplane rides but also any lengthy ride in the car as well. Also when wine is shipped to the store from the winery or warehouse, it can be bottle shocked as well, so if you’re buying wine to enjoy the same day, ask the store manager when that shipment arrived. Newly bottled wines will also be bottle shocked and should be left for a few weeks.
