Please advise me as to which neighborhood in New York City would suit me best to live?

I plan to move to New York City in the next year. I am a 23 year old American female and will be graduating university with a International Relations/Poly Sci degree. I am pretty worldly, have traveled all around the world with my family and friends and went to an international high school overseas in the Middle East.

I love going to nice restaurants, trendy clubs, I love the South Beach lifestyle. Most of my friends are international. I dont drink beer, and love wine and cocktails. I am open minded and love meeting new interesting people. My parents and family are well off, but not super rich like many of the friends I went to school with.

I dont know if any of this sounds pretentious, but its truly how I am, and my preferences. What area of New York City would suit me to live and I would meet people similar to me.Or atleast an area where I can walk to nice trendy restaurants and shops and have a good time with friends who love to do the same things :)

East Village
Williamsburg
Chelsea
Soho
Turtle Bay/East Midtown
Tribeca

I’m going to disagree with LJ — you sound a little too high-strung/proud of being “worldly” to fit in well in Brooklyn, although pretentiousness is spreading rapidly in Williamsburg.
