Names for my characters?

I’m writing a story, which is set in 1950s England and I am having real difficulty in finding names for my two leading characters.
The main character is a girl of 18, who holds a real passion for the ocean and traveling. She has been brought up to expect nothing more from life than to ‘wine and dine’, basically she comes from an upper class family.

The second character is a middle-aged man who lost one leg in the war and is now a broken man who spends his days drinking heavily. He is mentally weak and bitter, but underneath all that is essentially a good person.

Can you think of any names that would suit these two characters, keeping in mind the time and place?

Please do not suggest a baby naming site, I’ve already searched through it and nothing has caught my fancy yet.

Girl’s name: Anne, Jane, Ruth, Lucy, Susan, Annie, Deborah, Judith, Maria, Elizabeth, Kathleen, Esther.

Man’s name: Peter, David, Daniel, Danny, Joseph, John, Andrew, Adam, Keith, Timothy, Jack, Paul.
