Can anyone help me find a drinkable 1969 vintage wine?

I’m hoping to get help finding a 1969 vintage that is peak or soon after peak. Doesn’t really matter if it is red or white, but I would like it to be at least 88 points or higher if possible and hopefully not over $100 a bottle. In essense looking for a good wine doesn’t have to be awesome and $1000, I guess a Port would possibly be the best. My 40th birthday is coming up and I would like a few bottles from the year I was born. I have only gotten into learning about wines in the last year and it is exciting. I only hope I’m not asking a dumb question because I’m still a novice at this. Everywhere I have looked so far, I have seen that 1969 wasn’t a great year, but OK. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this issue. I would like to see some website info if possible because birthday is in three weeks from today.

“You are quite fortunate. 1969 is an excellent vintage in Burgundy. I can suggest at least a dozen wines that are not only still going strong, they are better than ever. There is a popular belief that wines from Cote de Nuits age better than their Cote de Beaune counterparts. Whereas one can find examples to back up that assertion, one can also find many Cote de Beaune wines that age just as nicely.

On the white side, the 1969 le Montrachet from Domaine Leroy is still very fresh, virogous and full of flavors. Older white Burgundies, like older Chateauneuf-du-Papes, are totally different than their youthful versions, not better and certainly not worse, just different.

By the way, 1969 was supposed to be a terrible year in Bordeaux, according to a 2-digit number on a vintage chart. However a 1969 Lafon Rochet opened recently seemed to dispute that, and Lafon-Rochet although a GCC isn’t really the greatest Bordeaux either. So there you have it, so much for vintage charts.”
