How do you cut a cork?

I’ve been trying to make a craft project with wine corks. I can glue them to the surface as is, however I’ve been trying to find a way to cut them. Does anyone have an effective way to do that? I’ve tried a knife but no go. Anything else?

You might also want to try a *serrated* knife or blade if the sharp knife or blade still doesn’t work well.
If there turn out to be any uneven spots afterward, you can rub those areas of the cork around on top of a sheet of sandpaper (sitting on a hard work surface).

You don’t say which direction you want to cut them or if they’re not just cut in half though, so you may also need to brace them while cutting (in a vise, or a makeshift vise made from taping them to a cutting surface, or by putting nails into a block of wood on each side of the cork shape so they can’t wiggle around much, etc.
