why me at a time in my life when i am ready for love.?

i like this man alot , just sent him a rose a bottle of wine and a lovely wine goblet made from pottery only to have him refuse delivery and sent it back to the florist knowing it was from me. I understand its best not to encourage people but considering he knew me for years as an accquaintance and got on well with me until i opened my big mouth and let him know i liked him more than just a friend . after this everything went pear shaped. i just feel it was a little harsh to refuse the gift i only tried to give with care the way he did.he could have just pulled me aside and told me firmly that i dont interest him.what do all of you think?this kind of reminds me of up sizing at Maccas this is like a super size rejection.
