1996 gmc yukon wouldnt hold an idle and now wont start.?

I have a 96 yukon with 5.7l engine. It wouldnt hold an idle and would like to die at times. now it wont start at all. The fuel pump seems to work, i can hear it wining. When i turn it over it sounds like its flooded and i smell fuel. I replaced a filter a couple months ago. Intake gaskets have also been replaced. I hunch its a fuel problem maybe a regulator but dont know how to check it, Any ideas on what the problem can be?

Steve, a fuel pressure regulator will not cause a no start condition. Just because you hear the fuel pump running it’s not an indication that the pump is good. your vehicle needs 60 psi of fuel pressure anything less than 50 is no good,
Get yourself a fuel pressure gauge, and check fuel pressure (sounds like a bad fuel pump) very common..
