Why isn’t beer or wine bottled in plastic bottles?

I don’t like plastic bottles and I have switched to reusable glass or metal bottles for my water, but I was just wondering if there’s a reason beer and wine has never been bottled in plastic. Everything else seems to be.
hmmm, that’s right about the wine boxes. I still haven’t seen any beer in plastic though.

It has to do with taste. Beer and wine will pick up the flavor of the plastic. There are some that come in plastic, though.

-When you go to a baseball or football game, the bottles are plastic so that if you throw them they won’t go far and won’t hurt anyone too bad (I guess they were having a problem with people throwing bottles at players).
-Wine sometimes comes in small bottles (smaller than a water bottle) for cooking or sold in packs.
-The boxes of wine actually have a plastic pouch on the inside, so technically they’re in plastic.
