Airline rules: How can one bring bottled wine from one state to another when flying?

I really don’t want to pack it, you know how baggage handlers can be. Is there any way I can carry it on board?

Sorry – but you cannot take it in your carry on. It is certainly more than 100ml, which is the maximum limit for liquids in carry on baggage.

Wine bottles are pretty thick glass – so I don’t think breakage is too likely to be a factor if it is reasonably well packed – in multiple layers of bubble wrap, for example.

You could also call UPS, FedEx or some other shipping firm and ask them about shipping wine. Rules for transport of alcohol are weird, so I don’t know if they could do it. If you really don’t trust the baggage handlers/inspectors, then those would be your only other option.
