How do you cut glass on a rounded surface?

My husband and I are trying to turn glass winebottles into hanging votive candle holders. We’ve got the hanging part down, but how do we cut a hole in the back of the glass to insert the candle? The wine bottles will be right side up as if standing, and we don’t want to cut the neck of the bottle off.

a diamond abrasive drill bit, expensive though, also when drilling and grinding glass its real important to keep it cool, need to keep cool water running over the area your trying to cut while your cutting so your cutter and what your cutting stays cool.
