How do you make homemade wine with only sugar, water and berries? My grandmother used to make it this way.?

My grandmother used to make wine with only these three ingredients: sugar, water and some kind of berries. No kits, no yeast, no enzymesI saw her make it when I was little, but I can’t remember exactly how she did it. So, I know it can be done.

If you cook it, you will need to add the yeast. The right type of yeast is critical(usually a wine yeast). Yeast is a living organism so cooking will kill it. Best to add the yeast when the cooked product cools to room temperature.

Better than table sugar try using corn sugar or corn syrup(notice how high fructose corn syrup is used as a sweetener on most foods and sodas nowadays. Table sugar is a complex sugar and yeast has a hard time breaking it down to alcohol. Fructose(found naturally in fruits, vegatables, and honey) is a simple sugar that yeast finds easy to break down.
