Elder Scrolls Oblivion Question?

Okay, I finally got up enough gold to buy the house in brevil, and I have some shelves and a wine rack. But how do you put stuff on the shelves? Whenever I try to do so, it just flies off into a corner of the room or something. This is on the xbox 360.

it is a pain to do. you have to drop something, then look at it. hold the left or right bumper(i dont remember) and then you can move it. it sucks and is hard to get it exactly where you want it.
